The family of Jack Kirsopp of Cantley are thrilled by the gesture from singer Rebecca Ferguson, who told the family via social media site twitter that their fund is now at the £15,000 mark.

A recent charity dinner for the youngster who has severe health issues raised a massive £9000 towards the fund, that almost got to its target sum with added donations and proceeds from other events.

Rebecca, who rose to fame as an X-Factor finalist, messaged the family: “Your 15k is now complete, have fun my darling...have an amazing time, lots of love god bless from my family to yours xxxx.”

The final top up from Rebecca Ferguson is great news, said Jack’s mum Vicky from their home in Cantley.

She added: “I can’t believe we’ve got the funds to take Jack to Disney World next year. We will keep on fundraising as there is so much to be done to help others as well as Jack.”

The youngster, nine, suffers from scoliosis plus many life-limiting complex medical conditions that include a rare neurological disease.

His carers are trained to deal with Jack’s extensive needs and are with him around the clock.

Jack was the 2014 joint Yorkshire winner of special recognition in the Children of Courage Awards.

He and his mum live together with support from family including Jack’s step dad Jonathan Riley and grandparents Jill and David Lee of Bessacarr. All five hope to go to Florida.
