Wrap up and run 10k to help old people in need

Sheffield actress Jessica Random is calling for local people to don their trainers and sign up to a charity fun run in Graves Park.

Jessica, who stars as Morwenna Newcross in ITV’s Doc Martin, is already in training for Age UK’s Wrap up and Run 10k event on March 30.

She said: “I’ve managed to persuade most of my family to run it with me too so I might well be giving my mum a piggyback for some if it!

“Money raised is vital and will make a real difference to older people during the winter. Heading out for a run in January and February can seem intimidating, but it’s great once you’re out in the fresh air.”

People who sign up will be raising funds for Age UK’s Spread the Warmth campaign, which helps people in later life to keep warm and well during the colder months.

The 10k run is suitable for both beginners who want a challenge or professional runners looking for a spring marathon training session.

A 2k walk will also take place on the Sunday for those who don’t fancy the 10k.
