In a poll to decide where the Blades needed to recruit and who should stay or go at Bramall Lane, only 54 per cent of United fans would go above the £5million mark for the Ipswich striker.

While that means 46 per cent would willingly make the 28-year-old the club's record signing, there's no consensus among fans.

A majority of Blades supporters felt that Chris Wilder should add another striker before the end of the transfer window, with 78 per cent choosing that position as a priority for new recruits.

Fans were also overwhelmingly in support of Jack O'Connell and Billy Sharp staying at the club, with 97 per cent and 90 per cent of votes respectively in favour of keeping them.

Both Sharp and O'Connell have been linked with moves elsewhere this window, but the Blades appear to have seen off unwelcome interest from Sunderland and Brighton.
