Greek island of Crete hit by magnitude 6 earthquake
The Greek island of Crete has this morning been hit by a powerful earthquake.
The quake measured 6 on the Richter scale with the epicentre just to the north of the island.
People as far away as the Greek capital of Athens are reported to have felt the quake.
In July the island – which is popular with British holidaymakers – was shaken by a 5.2 magnitude tremor.
