Worksop: World War Two hero receives VIP treatment with Red Arrows

A 93-year-old World War Two hero from Worksop received VIP treatment with the Red Arrows on a recent visit.

Tony Eaton won a VIP day with the Red Arrows at a Help for Heroes event so him and his wife Julie decided to take RAF veteran Ken Beard with him.

They received a tour of the aircraft workshops, watched a flying display by the Red Arrows and sat in on briefings and de-briefings with the pilots.

Tony said: “We arrived at RAF Scampton on a sunny day and were treated to an amazing day.”

“We had a tour of the aircraft workshops where numerous Red Arrows were being prepared ready for the 2015 flying season.”

The pair then had their pictures taken with the pilots and aircrafts and Ken was presented with a Red Arrows picture in recognition of his bravery during the war.

“To be that close to aircraft was very special,” Tony added.
