Worksop Town face zero-mile travel for tonight's away cup game

Worksop Town face the shortest travel of the season for tonight's away game in the Sheffield Senior Cup.

Tigers are in action at Sandy Lane, their home base, but will hosted by landlords Handsworth Parramore in quarter-final action.

The cup game, which will be played to a conclusion, will kick off at 7.45pm.

A win tonight would put the victor in the semi-final against either North Gawber Colliery or Shaw Lane Aquaforce – the side who beat Worksop and Handsworth to last season’s NCEL Premier title.

This season Tigers have already lost once to Parramore, going down 3-2 in their ‘home’ league game.

Worksop’s goals were scored by Andy Ofosu and Mitch Husbands, while Parramore won through a Simon Harrison double and Kieran Wells’ early goal.

The NCEL table puts Handsworth a point behind leaders Tadcaster, and four points clear of fourth-placed Tigers, who have played a game more.

Parramore are under the care of Mick Godber, who took over when Peter Duffield was sacked in January.

Godber’s men take impressive form into the clash, 10 games unbeaten and without defeat in 2016.

Tigers, meanwhile, are winless in three outings and have struggled in recent games.

There will be plenty of familiar faces for each side, the Worksop squad currently featuring recent Parras Julian Lawrence, Steve Woolley and Callum Harrison.

And former Tigers David Ratcliffe, Jon Froggat, Stuart Ludlam and Bruno Holden are on the books at Handsworth.
