Workers help park volunteers

VOLUNTEERS who help look after a Sheffield park have praised staff from a building firm who have given up their spare time to renovate neglected ornamental areas.

Friends of High Hazels Park, in Darnall, say they are extremely grateful to workers from Carillion for their efforts over the last two years.

The company will pay its last visit of the year to the park on Wednesday, to refurbish two shrub beds.

Paul Campbell, chair of the Friends, said: “In recognition of Carillion’s work we are putting on a celebratory meal for them.”

Meanwhile, from 10am on Thursday, volunteers will be removing litter from the car park on Waverley Road, near the bottom entrance to the park.

Members of the public are invited to join in on either day and all protective equipment and tools will be provided.
