ARTIFICIAL flowers are set to be removed for safety reasons from graves at a Doncaster village burial ground after a gardener was injured.

The man was hurt by the sharp end of a concealed wire of a flower which had been ‘planted’ by a relative in the surface of the grave at the Rands Lane site in Armthorpe.

Armthorpe parish clerk Graham Shephard has given notice that staff intend “to remove all unauthorised items from the graves at the burial ground, subject to a displayed notice”.

Mr Shephard’s action has been approved by members of the council’s burials sub-committee.
