Work to strengthen a historic Sheffield bridge will be complete by Christmas, it has been confirmed.
The bridge over the River Don at Oughtibridge has been reinforced with more than 18 tonnes of steel.
Road closures have been in place during the work and have caused some disruption for residents.
Sheffield Council contractor Streets Ahead now says work is due to be complete by the end of the year.
Andrew Harley, structures manager, said: “Careful consideration has been given to the bridge’s appearance, design and planning. The design enabled us to accommodate the many utility services that are in the bridge deck.
“This is a busy route and we hope the public will see the benefits of the strengthened and restored bridge once fully opened. ”
