WONDER at woodlice at an identification day this Saturday at Weston Park in Sheffield.

The special event, to be held from 11.30am to 4pm, will talk nature lovers through the 40-plus species of woodlouse which live in Britain.

The day school will discuss the lifestyle of the ancient creatures, and guide participants through the identification of local species, through talks and hands-on microscope work.

The event costs £25 and must be booked in advance, by emailing paul.richards@museums-sheffield.org.uk or by calling 0114 278 2649.

A similar event, for marvelling at milipedes, takes place on Saturday, July 2, at the same venue and times for the same fee. The course will explain the ecological importance of milipedes and include a look at museum specimens.
