Woman who died after lorry collision named by police

A woman who died after a collision with a lorry in Barnsley has been named by police.

Leonie Louise Davies, aged 25, was walking along Pontefract Road, Lundwood, on Friday when she collided with a white Renault articulated lorry at around 5.15am.

She was taken to hospital for treatment but died hours later.

Police said it was thought she was walking with a man and a woman when the crash happened at the junction of Wycombe Street.

South Yorkshire Police is asking anyone who saw the three people walking in the area at the time, or anyone with information, to call them on 101 quoting incident number 135 of April 18.
