Woman taken to hospital after refuse lorry crash in South Yorkshire
A woman was taken to hospital after a crash involving a rubbish truck in South Yorkshire.
A blue Toyota Avensis and a Dennis refuse lorry collided on the A633 Warren Vale in Rawmarsh, Rotherham, on Thursday morning, at around 8.55am.
The female driver from the Toyota was taken to hospital where she was treated for minor injuries before being discharged. The lorry driver was unharmed and South Yorkshire Police said there were no other passengers in either vehicle.
The road was closed northbound for an hour while the car was recovered and the debris cleared.
It was the second collision in Rawmarsh that morning and the third in less than 24 hours.
On Thursday morning, a car landed on its roof in Green Lane after colliding with a parked vehicle, and two women from the overturned car sustained minor injuries.
The previous evening at 11am another car overturned in Clay Pit Lane. Police, who found the vehicle empty, believe it may have been used by a drink driver.
A burst water main on the A633 Rotherham Road has also been causing major disruption in the area on Thursday. The road remained closed southbound between The Gateway and Stadium Way junctions at 5pm as emergency works continued, according to BBC travel alerts.
