Woman rescued from South Yorkshire river

A woman was rescued from a river by South Yorkshire firefighters.

Firefighters rescued a woman from a Rotherham river

Four fire engines were sent to the River Don, near Frederick Street in Rotherham town centre, and a specialist crew used a boat to reach the woman and pluck her to safety.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at 6.30am.

At 12.50am firefighters searched the River Dun Navigation Canal after a vehicle was spotted in the water near High Street, Barnby Dunn.

Firefighters checked that there was nobody trapped in the vehicle.
