Woman killed in bike crash

A WOMAN riding pillion on a motorbike died in a head-on collision with a lorry in the Peak District.

The West Yorkshire woman, who was in her 40s, was on a Yamaha on the A6 between Ashford-in-the-Water and Taddington when she was thrown from the bike when it collided with an HGV travelling in the opposite direction.

The man riding the bike, who was also in his 40s and from West Yorkshire, suffered critical injuries. Witnesses to the collision at 2.10pm on Tuesday should call the police on 0345 1233333.
