Woman killed and two young children injured after car crash on Sheffield road

A blue Toyota Corrolla Versa was involved in a crash on the A57 Manchester Road at the junction with Den Bank Avenue in Crosspool around 1.20am this morning, police have said.

Emergency services attended the incident - a woman, in the front passenger seat was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a man in his 50s is in a critical condition in hospital and two children, aged seven and 11, suffered minor injuries.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “No other vehicles are believed to have been involved and the Toyota is understood to have been travelling towards Sheffield at the time of the collision.

“Witnesses to the collision, or anyone with information that could help officers, should call 101 quoting incident number 87 of 27 December 2015.”
