Woman killed after car crashes into railing and tree in Chesterfield

A woman died when the car she was driving crashed through metal railings and into a tree.

The 35-year-old, who has not yet been named, was driving a grey Citroen C3 along Sheffield Road, Chesterfield, when her car left the road near to the Sandpiper Hotel at 9pm yesterday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers in her car were injured, one seriously, and were taken to the Northern General Hospital for treatment.

No other vehicles were involved.
