Woman freed by firefighters after two cars in collision

Firefighters took 45 minutes to cut a woman free from the wreckage of her car after a two-vehicle collision.

The smash happened at a crossroads on the A632 between Kelstedge and Spikewinter, Chesterfield.

A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said: “Crews from Clay Cross and Matlock attended and found one person trapped.

“It took 45 minutes to release the woman who was transported to hospital by ambulance.”

The incident happened at noon on Monday, December 23, and witnesses should call Derbyshire Police on 101.

■ Arsonists were responsible for a fire which destroyed a wheelie bin.

Firefighters were called to the incident at an address on Whitburn Road, Hyde Park, Doncaster, at 12.15am on Christmas Eve.
