Detective chief Inspector Zaf Ali, who is leading the inquiry, said: “Johanna’s death is currently being treated as unexplained. A post-mortem examination found that, while she did have cuts and bruises, her injuries did not cause her death.

“Further tests have been requested to help determine why she died.

“A 44-year-old man, from the Jordanthorpe area, was previously arrested on suspicion of murder. Following the post-mortem results, and numerous other enquiries carried out by police, there will be no further action taken against him in relation to murder.

“He does, however, remain on bail on suspicion of assault, which is being investigated as a separate matter.”
