Woman charged over death of Sheffield cyclist

A woman has been charged over the death of a Sheffield man who was fatally injured on a city road.

Father-of-two Eric Codling, aged 55, of Millhouses, Sheffield, was involved in a collision with a car on Whirlowdale Road, Whirlow, on Sunday, November 3.

Police have charged Emma Egan, 26, of Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, with causing death by dangerous driving, driving while over the prescribed limit, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and failing to report a road traffic collision.

She has been released on bail to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, May 15.

Two men, who were arrested and granted bail in connection with the collision, have now been released by police due to insufficient evidence.
