Witness appeal after 19-year-old assaulted in Wombwell

Police have appealed for witnesses after a 19-year-old man was assaulted in Wombwell.

South Yorkshire Police said the man was walking along Kelvin Grove after leaving nearby KG’s Sports Bar when he was attacked at about 12.40am on Sunday, March 20.

The 19-year-old suffered serious facial injuries which required hospital treatment.

Detective Inspector Stuart Hall said: “This was a nasty assault and we need your help to understand what happened.

“It was a busy Saturday night into Sunday morning, so there will have been other members of the public in the area out enjoying their evening.

“We know the bar was relatively busy and there will have been taxis outside as well. If you saw anything suspicious or witnessed the assault, please give us a call.”
