a SHEFFIELD-based insurance broker has issued advice to help traders keep moving over winter.

Towergate, of Troutbeck Road, Millhouses, is warning firms to prepare against the cold, pointing out that last winter 3,500 new claims a day were reported to UK insurers as a result of severe weather conditions.

Towergate managing director Roger Crowther urged company bosses to insulate all water pipes and tanks at their premises which could be liable to freezing and bursting, particularly in roof voids.

He also urged bosses to back up computer records and store them off site so work can be done elsewhere if business premises are affected by wintry weather.
