GREEN-FINGERED tenants and residents have been showing off their blooming great entries in this year’s Sheffield Gnomes Gardening Competition.

The annual contest, run by housing management company Sheffield Homes, attracted a ‘very high standard of entries’ in five categories.

The winners of each category scooped B&Q vouchers worth £100, with the runners-up scooping £50 of vouchers and third place £25.

The competition was open to all Sheffield Homes’ tenants and leaseholders.

“We have run the Sheffield Gnomes competition for several years now and it continues to be popular with our tenants and leaseholders,” said Jill Hurst, from Sheffield Homes.

“Once again we have been impressed with the standard of entries we received this year and would like to thank everyone who took part for helping to make it a success.”

Winners and runners-up of the competition received their prizes and a gardening trophy or certificate each at a special garden party held at the Botanical Gardens.

Among those collecting winners’ prizes were Audrey Lambert, James Morrisey, Roy Gill, Ronald Roe and Ridouan Smikil.
