WELL dressing organisers, a carnival society, a village hall and a nursery have all been helped with grants from a fund set up by a South Yorkshire wind farm operator.
Loscar Wind Farm Community Fund is providing money for Harthill Well Dressing Group to provide this year’s display.
Harthill Carnival Society and the Kiveton Park and Wales Village Hall also benefited.
And Harthill Pre-School was a successful bidder to the tune of £1,000 for a new Story Station that enables children to listen to a story through headphones while following the words in a book.
Wind farm operator REG Windpower has pledged to donate £180,000 to the community fund over the wind farm’s lifetime.
Claudia Richard, REG Windpower’s community relations manager, said: “We are delighted to support good causes in the community.
“We look forward to hearing of more exciting ideas in the coming years.”
South Yorkshire Community Foundation administers the fund, and a panel of local people meets quarterly to decide which applications are most deserving of support.
South Yorkshire Community Foundation fund manager, Sue Wragg, said: “The Loscar fund is making a big difference to the lives of the residents of the local community and will continue to do so as the needs of the community change over the years.”
