The band – vocalist Jade Rhiannon, guitarists Cliff Ward and Ben Savage, violinist Prue Ward and Evan Carson on percussion – are heading out on a major UK tour, including a show at Nether Edge Folk Club.

The Willows’ second album, Amidst Fiery Skies, which was produced by folk star Sean Lakeman, was hailed “a triumph” by The Daily Telegraph, which named it among its top five folk albums of 2014.

A tour spokesman said: “Fronted by the breathtaking vocals of Jade Rhiannon and supported by rich vocal harmonies and dynamic acoustic musicianship, the band take influence from folk traditions on both sides of the Atlantic.

“Following a standout performance at Cambridge Folk Festival last summer the family band took a short break for the birth of founder members Cliff and Jade’s first child, Reuben.

“They now return with a set of originals, covers and traditional songs from their first two albums and some new songs said to be on the slate for their third.”

The Willows play Nether Edge Folk Club, Nether Edge Bowling Club, on Wednesday, March 30. The show starts at 8.30pm.
