The last official white Christmas was in 2010, when snow was widespread across Northern Ireland, Scotland, parts of Wales, the Midlands, north-east and far south-west England.

But can we expect snow this Christmas? Until a few days before the big day it’s usually not possible to say with any certainty, but that doesn’t stop us taking a fun look ahead as we count down to December 25.

According to theweatheroutlook.com the probabilities of snow falling on Christmas Day are:

North of Yorkshire/Lancashire: 16%

South of Yorkshire/Lancashire: 8%

A spokesman said: “The regional Christmas weather predictions are updated daily using medium and long range forecast data. They may indicate very different prospects to the TWO forecast above. Who will be right?”

It’s expected to be too mild for snow in the south.

It’s expected to be too mild for snow in the north.

Cold conditions in Scotland are expected. Marginal for rain or snow.
