The title-winning super bantamweight cannot wait for the New Year, when he hopes get a crack at the world title he has craved since turning professional at Sheffield’s Ingle gym in 2009.

After returning from a suspension from the sport, he has boxed twice this year, recording stoppages over opponents barely good enough to get in the ring with him.

He’s now hoping for one more fight before Christmas before propelling himself into the world title mix.

Galahad (real name Abdul Barry Awad) says: “There are only a few televised shows on before Christmas and I’d like to be on one of them. But the thing about boxing is that it cam be mad busy then the next minute it goes a bit dead.

“I don’t want to box for the British or European titles again, I’ve won them already (2013 and 14) and I want much more than that.

“2017 will be my year, I know that. I don’t care if it’s WBC, IBF, WBO, any of them, they are all world titles and one of them will be coming my way.”

At 26 years old, Galahad has seen profile and riches come the way of the likes of Carl Frampton and Scott Quigg; but he says he is not frustrated about his own position.

The 20-win fighter said: “Yo can’t get down, you have just got to handle things and move forward.

“I have time on my side, I am always in the gym, I look after myself and I am hoping to get some sparring with Lee Selby (who is fighting Eric Hunter to retain his IBF world featherweight title in April.)

“If things don’t get going I might go to America to do some sparring, I’ve done it before and it is an unbelievable experience. Sparring in gyms like Floyd Mayweather or Top Rank’s is like having an actual fight.”

Galahad will be keeping an eye on world champion stablemate Kell Brook’s dance card, as the Sheffield IBF ruler comes back next year from injury.

“Kell could fight at welter, light middle or middleweight.

“Take Gennady Golovkin out of the equation and who is there to threaten Kell at the heavier weight?

“Daniel Jacobs is WBA world title holder - Kell would beat him.

Billy Joe Saunders is the WBO title holder - Kell would beat him too.”

Galahad would love to test himself against the best at Brook has now done.

He has previously said he wants to fight double Olympic gold medallist Guillermo Rigondeaux, from Cuba,
