Meadowhall announced last year that a new Wilko store would be heading for Meadowhall as part of the shopping centre's huge £60m refurbishment.

While no opening date has been revealed as of yet, the budget retailer is now advertising store assistant roles on Meadowhall's website.

Wilko said it is looking for customer service assistants working 15 hours a week with the applications closing on Wednesday, January 24.

The advertisement read: "Your role as a Customer Service Assistant will be all about making sure every customer receives the very best service at all times, whether that be on the till, or out on the shop floor.

"Thanks to your warm friendly manner, helpful approach and great product knowledge, customers will keep coming back to us!

"Taking huge pride in what you do, you'll make sure the shop floor look shipshape, and all the stock is in the right place, and of course looking it's best."

Wilko will join a raft of new and refurbished shops and restaurants to have recently opened at Meadowhall, including Barburrito, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Sports Direct, Flannels and All Saints.

Another Wilko store is set to open at St James retail Park on the old Norton College site off Bochum Parkway at Meadowhead in June.

Aldi, TK Maxx and M&F Foodhall are among the other big names to have signed up for the £35m scheme.

The developer claims the scheme will create 250 full-time jobs, in addition to the 124 jobs created during construction.
