Wildlife survey to record Sheffield species

Have your say

From beetles in Beighton to owls in Oughtibridge, Sheffield’s diverse wildlife is set to become the focus of a massive nature survey taking place this month.

Beginning on Friday, July 11, the Sheffield Bioblitz 2014 will bring together professional and amateur nature spotters in an ambitious attempt to record as many city species as possible over a 48-hour period.

Participants can get involved by either seeing what they can find in their garden or local park, or alternatively joining one of Museums Sheffield’s free guided events, including moth hunting, bat spotting and bug counting.

Records from across the city can be sent in by email to bioblitz@sorby.org.uk or dropped off at Weston Park Museum.
