Kris's widow Whitney will attempt to overcome her fear of heights when she takes the plunge on May 30 next year for Cavendish Cancer Care, along with his cousin Georgia.

The popular wrestler died of cancer in March this year, aged 32, having briefly returned to the ring after undergoing surgery and chemotherapy.

Kris, who lived in Woodthorpe, was known for his flamboyant style and often sported hot pink shorts in the ring.

He made the most of his fame by becoming a patron of the Broomhall-based charity, which provides counselling, complementary therapies and practical advice to cancer patients and their families.

The fundraising campaign he started for the charity has raised more than £12,000 to date.

Whitney, who accepted an award in her late husband's name earlier this year, has teamed up with Georgia to continue backing the cause in his memory.

She said they wanted to do something for the charity to 'carry on his legacy' and show their gratitude for the support it gave Kris and her during his two-year battle with cancer.

"Kris made us all proud and he was so brave. In fact, most of his time was spent comforting me (bless him)," she said.

"He dedicated his life to family, friends and wrestling and, towards the end of his life, fundraising. We LOVE him so much and must carry on his legacy.

"Any donation big or small will be much appreciated as it all adds up! I think I deserve extra donations as I start shaking with fear on the second step of a ladder!"
