Why Wilder wants his Sheffield United players to keep 'bouncing'
Sheffield United plan to arrange more behind-closed-doors friendlies after facing Burnley at Turf Moor last week.
Chris Wilder and his assistant Alan Knill believe the games, described as “bounce fixtures” by the United manager, help the likes of James Hanson, Samir Carruthers and Daniel Lafferty stay sharp as they battle for places in the starting eleven.
“We had a staff meeting and said we needed a game,” Wilder, who saw David Brooks and Richard Stearman score during the 2-2 draw with Sean Dyche’s side, said. “They’ve got quite a big squad and they needed one.
“It was a competitive game against them. We need more of those games as well. The big thing is we need to keep the numbers right for us.”
