Around 4,500 supporters are expected to make the short trip over the Pennines to see the Owls lock horns with League One champions Wigan Athletic.

Jos Luhukay, the Wednesday chief, hopes his side can get off to a flying start.

But the Dutchman claims the league will only start to take shape after the 10-match mark.

He told The Star: "I say in Germany always that after 10 games you know where you stand and where you can look for.

"It is not a situation where you win the first two games and you play the whole year for the second or first positions.

"This competition is so intensive so you must focus on the start.

"You get a view after 10 games on your position and how the other teams are doing and whether you can look at the play-off positions, mid-table or not in mid-table. You have to wait for the performances, not only on Saturday, but also in the next two and a half months."
