The in-form Owls star collected his fourth caution of the season in Saturday's thrilling 2-2 Hillsborough draw to Stoke City.

The midfielder was penalised for bringing down Potters substitute Bojan deep inside Wednesday's half in the dying minutes of a pulsating contest.

It was the fourth yellow card the Scotland international has received in eight outings, leaving him just a booking away from triggering an automatic one-match ban.

Bannan, who has already bagged two goals in the 2018/19 campaign, including a stunning equaliser versus Stoke, picked up his other cautions against Wigan Athletic, Hull City and Ipswich Town.

Bannan has started every league match, playing an instrumental role in the Owls' four-match unbeaten run.

But Wednesday's midfield general will do well to avoid a suspension. The cut-off point for five yellow cards is November 30. Between now and that stage, Jos Luhukay's Owls outfit are scheduled to play 12 Championship fixtures, starting with a trip to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.
