Why Jos Luhukay is not worried by Sheffield Wednesday's lack of clean sheets

Their seven league matches have so far produced 22 goals. 

However, their expansive style of play has left them, at times, vulnerable to counter attacks. Stoke's pace and athleticism in the wide positions repeatedly troubled their back four last weekend.

Although the Owls have yet to record a league clean sheet this season, manager Jos Luhukay insists he is not overly concerned.

He told The Star: "It is not easy to come to clean sheets. 

"For me, it is important to keep clean sheets but I can also live when we win 3-1, 4-2 or 5-3. I have no problem with that.

"Of course, you don't want to concede goals but when we make more goals it is always good and the fans like the games when they are more attractive. 

"It is only positive when you make one more goal than the opponent. When we do that, I can live with no clean sheet."

Goals have not been a problem of late for Wednesday. Luhukay's men have found the back of the net on eight occasions in the last four league outings.

"You must always have good defending, of course," admitted Luhukay, who says Kieran Lee (knee) faces another extended spell on the sidelines. 

"But defending alone will not be enough to win games. We must do a lot in our offensive transition to come to chances and score goals."

But the Dutchman is acutely aware the Owls must tighten up at the back to maintain their improved form, starting at Nottingham Forest tomorrow night.

Luhukay said: "It is the balance we must find. We must first have the stability. When you have the stability and balance, you can keep clean sheets.

"We must find the best way in both directions to try and come to success.

"We have respect for every opponent but we must believe in ourselves and each other and how we like to play.

"We like to play more offensively to create chances and hopefully score a lot of goals but I know that is not always possible. 

"When I see our last two games, we were fantastic away at Reading with the chances we created and the goals we scored. Saturday was very difficult but the team found real character to come back in the game."

It is highly likely Luhukay will rotate his Wednesday squad as they prepare for back-to-back matches on the road. Atdhe Nuhiu is pressing hard for a recall following his impact as a substitute in the 2-2 draw with Stoke City while loan recruits Michael Hector and Josh Onomah could make their full debuts. 

Luhukay said: "We look every day to Josh and Michael. It was very short for them both last week. They only trained one time with the team and this week we have only had two training sessions.

"It is very important that they have a good feeling from our club and from our teammates and that they have a positive feeling when they play from the beginning for us. 

"We look at it day to day and from game to game but they are very close to our first-team."
