Why Jos Luhukay is happy with his Sheffield Wednesday loan recruits

Manager Jos Luhukay has praised the impact of loan players Michael Hector and Josh Onomah in Sheffield Wednesday's march up the Championship table.

Defender Hector and midfielder Onomah have featured prominently in the Owls' good run of form.

Hector was a pillar of strength at the back in the recent victory over Bristol City while Onomah gave the team extra energy, athleticism and creativity in the midfield engine room. Onomah provided the assist for Lucas Joao's second goal at Ashton Gate before giving away a needless penalty after a clumsy foul on substitute Callum O'Dowda

While Chelsea loanee Hector has started the last four Championship matches and established himself as a key component of Luhukay's team, Onomah has been in and out of the starting eleven.

But Tottenham Hotspur youngster Onomah has acquitted himself well in the last two outings. The England Under-21 international will be hoping he has done enough to retain his place in the side ahead of Friday's televised tussle with fourth-placed Middlesbrough.

Luhukay, whose team occupy the final play-off position after 12 matches, told The Star: "It has been a little bit more difficult for Josh than Michael.

"Josh is young and he has to find his way. It is also important that he plays games to have a better feeling with his teammates.

"Josh is 21 but Michael is a little bit older and has more experience.

"Both bring their own quality to the team and we have seen that in the last few games.

"Michael was very strong against WBA but he topped that performance for me at Bristol City. I'm very happy with him and Josh."

Onomah is enjoying his football at Hillsborough but believes the best has yet to come.

"I still feel there is more to come from me," he said. "I missed out on pre-season so I still feel like I can get fitter.

"Once I get fitter, I feel I like I can impact games a lot by getting goals and assists and that's what I'm looking forward to."
