What you need to know about fake Amazon email scam doing the rounds in Sheffield

Police in Sheffield have shared a warning about a scam involving fake emails purporting to be from Amazon.

Reports of the fraudulent emails containing links to phishing websites designed to steal your Amazon log-on details are on the rise, according to Action Fraud.

The subject line and content of the emails vary but they all contain these links.

One claims the recipient's £80-a-year Prime Gold membership will automatically renew unless they click on the link to cancel the plan.

Action Fraud, the national fraud and cyber crime reporting centre, advises people to protect themselves by never automatically clicking on a link in an unexpected email or text.

"Always question unsolicited requests for your personal or financial information in case it’s a scam," it said in a message shared by South Yorkshire Police.

"Never automatically click on a link in an unexpected email or text.'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹'‹"
