WESTFIELD Health donated £100,000 towards the Star-backed appeal to fund a new cystic fibrosis ward at the Northern General Hospital.

The unit, which provides 12 beds for people with the respiratory disease, was officially opened last year, after Star readers dug deep to fund the state-of-the-art facility.

Westfield Health made a massive contribution towards helping the unit reach its £1 million target, benefiting more than 150 Sheffield cystic fibrosis patients.

The not-for-profit health company presented the second half of their donation to Ruth Morrison, the matron on the ward, before Christmas.
