The Seagulls had dominated for long spells, but Wednesday stand one match away from returning to the Premier League for the first time since 2000.

Carvalhal, who has been in charge less than a year, said: “We have what we deserve.

“My staff and I have worked hard since the beginning.

“The players deserve what we have achieved. We have a fantastic group and they understand each other well.

“It belongs to us all from the chairman, the players and the fans.

“It is something we have achieved together. I’m feeling very happy and proud.”

On the draw on the south coast, the former Sporting Lisbon chief said: “We had pain in the game.

“We had a bit of luck in the first twenty or 30 minutes of the game. We tried to do our best.

“We played with our heart but not with our normal quality.

“We tried to be more aggressive in the second half.

“Brighton have had a fantastic season but we deserve what we are living.

Wednesday will face either Hull City or Derby County in the Final on May 28.

Hull lead 3-0 heading into Wednesday evening’s second leg.

“Hull City have a big advantage at the moment but it is football and you never know what can happen,” he said.

“We have all drawn four games with Hull and Derby. The value of the teams is very similar.

“We will go to the final to win. We are competitors. We are not going there to see the stadium.”

The Wednesday boss added “We gave everything and fought to the last second.”
