Well-known Doncaster singer and music star dies at 78

A popular and well-known star of the Doncaster music scene has died at the age of 78.

Musician Buddy Martin died earlier this month.

Buddy Martin, who was a familar face in the town's pubs and clubs for a number of decades, died earlier this month in Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Mr Martin, whose real name was Terence Doherty, played a number of musical genres and was rarely seen without his trademark guitar.

An obituary for him read: "His music and big personality brought a smile to many people's faces during his time as a musical entertainer in the Doncaster area.

"Buddy will be sadly missed by his family and friends."

Mr Martin, who lived in Hexthorpe. died at the hospital on September 12.

The funeral service will take place on September 26 from 3.40pm at Rose Hill Crematorium.
