We'll have a drink or three Sonny boy

Re: 'Duelling Banjos'', Letters page, February 25.

Well Sonny, if you can acquire a pass-out from the wife, I would welcome you to the Railway Hotel, Wadsley Bridge, on Friday, March 4, by playing The Tip of my Fingers by PJ Proby, and also your request Son of a Gun, a moral song, that simply says, ‘’Judge a person by their own deeds, not the deeds of others, including family’’.

Not only that, I will ask the Hillbilly Cats to sing you another great Sanford Clark song, Run Boy Run.

Better still, bring Mrs Parks and during my tribute to Patsy Cline, I will dedicate the song Crazy to her.

So Come along and meet me, Sonny Boy

We’ll have a drink, or three, Sonny Boy

For I’m content, the music will just send you

Just like it sends me, Sonny Boy.’

(With all due respect to Al Jolson, and my mother’s favourite song)

For any other lovers of 50/60s music, come, enjoy the songs, and request your own favourite.

Mike Lawton,
