World Cup referee Howard Webb has presented a cheque to North Anston-based Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
The Rotherham police sergeant is a patron of the charity and was recently guest speaker at the Football Safety Officers Association 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner at Harrogate.
He requested that his £500 fee be donated to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.
Howard said: “It’s nice to be able to give something back to the local community and, after visiting Bluebell on numerous occasions, I think they are a very deserving charity.
“I really support the fantastic work they do and I’m honoured to be a patron.”
Heidi Megaughin, spokeswoman for Bluebell Wood, said: “We are extremely grateful to Howard for his support.”
