Yellow weather warnings in place as Met Office warns strong winds set to hit Sheffield today

This evening will bear the brunt of the wet and windy weather, and the showers are set to have eased off by lunchtime tomorrow.

Despite a dry and windy start to Monday morning, blustery ‘locally heavy’ showers are expected at around 10am, with some turning wintry over higher ground.

Met Office forecasters warn that gales are possible in exposed areas.

The temperature is set to drop to freezing tonight, reaching 7 °C during the day.

Showers will continue this evening and overnight, with clear spells at times.

A wet and windy start is expected tomorrow, although rain should ease by the afternoon.

Some bright or sunny spells are likely on Wednesday and Thursday with possible overnight frost or fog.

Looking forward to the end of the week, conditions may turn unsettled, with rain and stronger winds expected.
