If you are braving the shops for some last minute Christmas shopping don’t forget your brolly.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “It will be a mainly dry but cloudy start, with hill fog in places. Scattered showers are possible through Saturday, particularly later in the morning. Often fairly cloudy, but with some bright or sunny spells.

“Moving on to tonight it will be mostly cloudy with low cloud and fog in places.

“A few showers are still possible, particularly through the early hours. It will feel rather cold, particularly in rural spots.”

For those wtatching the Sheffield United game at 3pm when they play Brighton there is a 10% chance of rain so you should stay dry for the match.

The maximum temperature will be 7 °C dropping to 2 °C at night.
