Spring-like temperatures are expected to return this weekend, but the unsettled weather will continue following the washout over the bank holiday weekend.

Temperatures in Sheffield could reach as high as 17 degrees Celcius on Sunday before dropping back down to the low-teens over the course of next week.

Saturday will commence with bright and dry conditions but will soon turn wet and windy as rain arrives from the south by mid-morning, spreading northwards across all parts during the afternoon.

Prolonged heavy rain is expected throughout the day, and winds will be breezy, reaching speeds of around 14 mph in the evening.

The rain will start to ease off from the south during the evening, with cloud lingering overhead. The maximum temperature will be around 14 °C with lows of 11 °C.

Sunday is expected to remain dry for the majority, but some areas of the city could see some scattered showers at times. Overnight, it should be dry, and Monday should continue largely dry with a slight breeze, but a few showers cannot be ruled out in the afternoon.

After a chilly start, it will be another day of sunshine and showers. The showers will be heavy at times, with the risk of hail and thunder. The showers may turn a little wintry at times over higher ground. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Any showers should gradually ease during the evening to leave most places dry with some clear spells overnight. Turning chilly, with patchy frost and fog in some prone rural spots. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Saturday:

After a dry start, rain will arrive from the south by mid-morning and spread northwards across all parts during the afternoon. Windy, with local gales possible. Rain turning showery later. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

A band of showery rain moving slowly southeast on Sunday. Staying unsettled into next week with a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers, heavy and possibly thundery at times.
