Trees lie strewn across the ground after Storm Boelo battered Rotherham over the weekend.

The council has begun clearing the debris and is working to secure the other tree from falling onto graves.

Large branches have partially blocked the canal path by Rotherham Lock, with the council offices just down the road.

One tree was blown over in Clifton Park on Doncaster Road and remains fenced off.

Several trees in Maltby cemetery on Grange Lane were destroyed by the high winds, with one collapsing and causing damage to several of the graves.

David, who sleeps on the streets in Rotherham town centre, struggled to find anywhere sheltered enough to sleep over the weekend as the storm took hold.

He said: “I walked around most of the night and went to the library until four or five o’clock.”

Debris and branches were seen flying around Rotherham, and several trees were blown down entirely.

Over the weekend, the public were warned to take extra precautions when travelling due to Storm Boelo, which hit hardest in Northern England and Scotland.

Northern Rail advised people not to use the train between Sheffield and Rotherham until today (Monday, October 26, 2026).

At least two people have been tragically killed across the country by falling trees blown over in the storm.

Storm Boelo is not officially over, but travel services have largely resumed across the region and the weather looks to be significantly better this week.

Temperatures will rise slightly to highs of around fourteen degrees, and the rain will likely disappear by the end of the week.

Yellow wind warnings remain in place today across Scotland and much of the east coast of England.
