A number of schools and nurseries in Sheffield have been forced to close due to the snowy weather.

Schools are already closed to most children due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown, however children of key workers and those classed as vulnerable are still allowed to attend in person.

However, the heavy snowfall in Sheffield today has meant that these pupils must now stay at home as the schools have been forced to close.

These are the schools in Sheffield that have announced their closure so far:

Stocksbridge Nursery and Infant School

St John Fisher Primary

Halfway Junior School

The Rowan School, Totley

Talbot Specialist School

St Theresa’s Catholic Primary School

Carterknowle Junior School - closing from 12.00

Holt House Infant School - closing from 12.00

The schools are all closed with immediate effect.

Staff at the schools will be in touch with parents and carers to give them updates on when the schools will reopen.
