Across northern England, snow showers are expected to turn to rain from the south and west over the course of the day. Areas above 200 metres are expected to be the worst affected, receiving around two to five centimetres of snow. A brief spell of freezing rain is also possible, as the snow begins to turn to rain, leading to icy stretches.

Due to the current saturated ground from recent flooding, further rainfall may bring about some travel disruption, mainly over northern parts of England.

The Met Office is warning of possible travel delays on roads, as well as delays or cancellations to rail and air services.

Power cuts may also occur, while mobile phone coverage could similarly be affected.

Spray and flooding on the roads is likely, causing difficult driving conditions and some road closures, while some rural communities could become cut off.
