Sheffield braced for sub-zero temperatures later this week

Temperatures in Sheffield are set to plummet below zero later this week, forecasters warn.

On Friday it feel like -1c according to the Met Office, with the chilly theme continuing on Saturday with temperatures dropping as low as -4C.

The low temperatures will bring the risk of icy patches.

Sheffield City Council are telling Sheffielders to “wear appropriate clothing, footwear, and carry extra warm clothing with you.”

It will stay cold through the early part of next week, with lows of -3C on Monday.

The Council’s Streets Ahead team have issued advice for residents travelling in wintery conditions, including leaving plenty of time for journeys as traffic will most likely be affected.

They have also advised keeping an emergency kit in your car in case of breakdowns or accidents.
