Sheffield on alert for snow and ice TONIGHT as Met Office issue new weather warning

Today it will be cold and windy particularly across the Pennines where it will be rather cloudy with wintry showers. Some may be heavy and lead to temporary accumulations. Staying largely dry with occasional sunny spells across eastern parts. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Tonight, although a few snow showers are still expected over the Pennines, the rest of the region will become largely clear but cold, with a widespread frost expected in the morning. Minimum temperature -1 °C

The forecast for Wednesday is a mixture of sunny spells and showers, wintry over hills, but perhaps not as cold and windy as Tuesday. Remaining largely dry in the east. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Thursday to Saturday is looking initially cold with early frosts and a few wintry showers, but some bright or sunny spells.
