Abbeydale Road’s Picture House Social was flooded as torrential rain fell on Sunday evening.

The bar which offers live music, cocktails, craft beer, Italian inspired street food, a games room and a terrace, tweeted: “Sorry folks! Due to a flood from the rain our doors are closed for the evening. Which is brilliant.

“Back to tomorrow from 4pm for hot pizza pies and bangin cocktails!”

Abbeydale Road, Heeley and Nether Edge were subject to flash floods, with rainwater flowing like a waterfall down the steps of Lidl on Chesterfield Road and onto the road.

Abbeydale Road was flooded at the bottom of Vincent Road.

The Met Office has issued a Yellow warning for thunderstorms until 9pm tonight for South Yorkshire.

This afternoon it will become brighter with some sunny intervals spreading northwards through the afternoon, sparking scattered heavy showers, locally thundery. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Tonight showers will ease, with many areas clearer for a time, although some coastal districts may see mist and low cloud develop. It will be cloudier generally with some rain to end the night. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Tuesday is forecast to be rather cloudy and damp in places during the morning, but gradually brightening up. This will in turn spark some heavy showers into the afternoon, with a chance of thunder. Maximum temperature 22 °C.
