Sheffielders are being warned to batten down the hatches as Storm Dennis brings 40mph winds and heavy rain to the city.

A yellow ‘be aware’ weather warning is in place in Sheffield for the weekend, with strong winds expected to blow as fast as 47mph.

Meanwhile, downpours have already begun to batter the city and will continue throughout Saturday, February 15, until around 11am on Sunday, easing off to bring in a cloudy but dry afternoon with sunny intervals expected later on.

The Met Office has warned of possible travel disruption, with buses and trains expected to see some delays and cancellations due to road closures and power cuts are likely across the country.
